Hello I am having small prob with card. When booting & when you click on stuff I get this white flashing streak across the screen. I have tried different drivers, monitors, reloaded windows. This is not artifacts & it dont show up in a game Unless you are ajusting settings. When in the game no problems. When Booting @ the blue scroll bar it flashes this streak when it goes to logon screen. When you get the desktop if you click on anything it flashes. I had a MSI FX5200 & this didnt do this. When I installed the 9800 Pro it started. Driver - 4.3 Cat. I have tried Omeaga 4.3 (liked this drive but running ATI 4.3 now. I tried the driver that came with the card (3.4 cat) I think. No driver has helped or hurt this flash. I have tried stock clock on my CPU-Tried different VCORE (running 1.850 now). Nothing I have done has made any change. Tryed My monitor on other comp & had no problem with monitor on other comp. Any Ideas I have tried other things but anyone has a suggestion I need to try something. I also tried OC & UC the 9800 & this had no change.
I get this too with the cat 4.3's except that it's a little black streak. It only occurs when I goto change the display settings though. Did you try cat4.1 or 4.2? when I had 4.1/4.2 it didn't do this. How big a streak are we talking about? mine is only 2mm thick and it dissapears pronto.

I have not tried 4.1 or 4.2 but it did it with 3.4 that came with the card & 4.3 omega. The steaks are black when it is booting but it changes to white after desktop & when I go into display ajustments it is real bad. They are very thin streaks though Not realy causing any real problem except worry & agervation. To have spent this much on my new system I dont like it. It almost seems like it is some kinda electrical spike. I will try the other drivers & maybe unhooking some fans & try a different mouse & keyboard. Im using a cheap usb mouse.Like I said though it runs good it is doing 3Dmark 2003 @ 5443 & its not overclocked.Havnt tried overclock it much yet but will when I get my VGA cooler & new case in. My barton dont like clocking much 1907mhz is where its running but have new moble 2600 to put in when I get the case. I would like to resolve the streaks though before I go changing the chip & case. If not Ill change every thing & see what happens. This sould not be doing this. How long have you been running with the streaks on your comp.

have you checked the HS and make sure it is seated tightly...and you might think about replacing the junk thermal paste and add some AS5 if you havent already...see if that helps...this might be a heat issue...the 9800 Pros with stock heating can run hotter then most OCed CPU's...
I was testing a 9200 out a while back and it was doing something similar...reseated the HS and added AS5 and a 60mm fan...passive cooled only ...this solved the issue with that card...
Cat 3.4's are wayyy old man. As I suggested try the 4.1's or 4.2's that should clear the prob if you are really worried about it. However it seems to be just a driver issue so I wouldn't be concerned with it at all. I've been running the cat4.3's since they came out so it's been about 2 weeks or so. However if your getting the streaks before you get into windows or while running games I would tend to think that this would be a heat issue or a faulty card. Try the drivers and post back.

OK I Tried 4.1 & 4.2 no help - I also have removed the HF & AS5 & I have a PCI card that is nothing but fans blowing on the card. This was already done. It plays game with no problem. But I still havnt removed things that might cause electrical spikes Ill do this later this evening. Keep the idles coming I may be over looking somthing simple. I had a 9200 in once it didnt do this either. There may be somthing with the card,I hope not . even though its seems to be working good it could go out later. On my paychecks this would hurt. Shoot it hurt to buy the first time. I am going to move all my PSU cables around & make shure the card has its own line by itself. Maybe move the comp to anouther plugin. It seems very consistant in it action like there is something that is causing it. Got to go till this evening though thank yall for help.
Hmmm, like you said try using a seperate power line to the 9800pro. And don't fret, if it is a bad card you will be able to get a new one at no cost to you.
I wouldn't doubt it if indeed it was the card itself; however, try out some of omegas catalyst drivers and see if they work, I had some problems with the ATi ones myself for a bit and the omegas seem to work better for me (and you can OC with 'em too, which is a plus  )
Also if you have another comp, or know someone you know does try running it in that one.

Well I have tried every thing I can thank of. Even moving the comp to a new line in the house. Nothing has ever even changed it even. But it runs good. I dont understand. 3D mark 03 scored 6026. I know I cant complain there. But the streaks are aggeravating & worrysome. Im going to pull the card & try it in my other comp. It has a Nvidia FX5200 U in it.I had wanted to try not putting it in there because changing the drivers but its going to have to happen so I can find weather its the card or not. O by the way I have tried the Omega driver 4.3 but thanks for the advice. I will let yall know what happens. Thank You. Its ashame Its running so good.
