View Full Version : XP2700 and A7V333 - Do I have a bad CPU?

I put together an Asus A7V333 with an XP 2700+ 333 CPU.

It won't even post. ... Dead...:(

I have Bios version 1018.

I know the mobo is good, cause I can put in an AMD 1333 and it works fine.

I tried the 2700 on another system and it wouldn't post either, but I think that was because the board was old (A7V-133)

Any ideas? Did I miss a Bios setting somewhere? Or should I RMA ?

I bought it from NewEgg.

Thanks,
H.

It says on Asus web site your board reads FSB of 266/200 MHz

you can try clearing the Cmos and see if it will clock it down

Thanks for your reply.

I tried everything!
I reset the CMOS, jiggled this, wiggled that... Nothing.

Now I have another problem:
The board was working fine with the AMD 1.3 chip, now it won't post or boot. After trying the 2700 and then back to the 1.3, it's dead.
I was going to try flashing the BIOS back to 1015 to see if it would pick up the 2700, but now I can't even get into BIOS.

Did I just kill the board? And is there any way I can RMA it to Asus? I didn't buy it new.

Thanks,

H.
