I thought i may have read it somewhere on the forum that newegg will pay for return shipping on a RMA, i could be wrong cause on the site they say that newegg does not pay for return shipping so could someone set me straight on this.

You pay to ship the bad item back to Newegg and they pay to ship the replacement to you. In special situations I have heard of Newegg paying both directions but that is not common, I think.

i saw a thread on the forums here about newegg having free return shipping on rma's. there was a picture of part of their page, but i can't remember where on the forums i saw this post.

Swilson is right. Newegg policy is to not pay for return shipping from you to them, but they pay for it on sending the replacement part back to you. However, sometimes, depending on the problem, they will pick up the tab for both. It really depends on the issue though.

I have rma'ed stuff back to newegg twice. First time was just a return, obviously had to pay the shipping and the restocking fee.

Second time I had a deffective board, still paid for the shipping.

I think the only way to get em to ship both ways is if you do an rma and they ship you a doa replacement.

Just ask although sometimes you get lucky sometimes you don't but either way it does not hurt to ask. :D

Yep, it never hurts to ask. Worst that can happen is they say no. Newegg just the other day reaffirmed for me why I buy almost all of my gear through them. I had bought a 512MB dimm of Corsair from them to put into my DFI Lanparty 875 Pro B mother board. Well, one might think it should work since my other DIMM in there is the same type, just a different revision. Well, my old revision 1.1 works great, but the new one from them, a version 3.1 wouldn't work at all. Thinking I got a bad dimm i sent it to corsair for an RMA. Got the new one from them, same revision, and the exact same failure! So, seemed like a problem with that revision and that board. Emailed newegg saying that I had a dilemma with the ram i bought and explained the situation, and then mentioned that I would like to purchase a new 1GB dual pack from them and RMA for refund the current one, but I was wondering if the restocking fee could be waived since I would be buying another product. Later that day I had a reply and they were all good with that and restocking fee is waived for my RMA. It is that kind of customer service that keeps me coming back to Newegg, and I sent them another email letting them know just that!
