Hey all, new to the forum, great place, lotsa good info :D anyways...
From what i have, listed below, heres my plan for a wc setup. After doing DAYS of reading here and other places, think it'll be a good go for a noob to this.
Waterblock: DD RBX for A64 (brass for all 75lbs of holddown ;)
Rad: Heatercore, 2x120mm, blue metalic, from voyeurmods.com
Pump: Hydor L30
Res : Innovatek Tank-o-matic external, from highspeedpc.com
Tubing: 3/8" Tygon, ~6'
Tank and Radiator to be mounted externally on right side of case just above pump-top for least amount of gravity and upward flow head loss. Distilled or de-ionized water, if i can find some, with UV green dye. Dont really want to use additives to cloud up my water. Unless i can find some pure glycol to add, water still's got the best thermal properties (based on tips from overclockers.com reseach done).
What do yall think? Any ideas/suggestions welcome from those more experienced. SANDRA marks to follow, stock and cooled. Anyone know a good place to dl 3dmark? and wanna fold for SETI, sounds good to me, but where to get?

Have you considered the D-Tek White Water and using 1/2" tubing instead? The WW is marginally better than the RBX, and 1/2" tubing help flow. Also, consider Swiftech Hydr-X as an additive. It prevents grrowth within the tubes, and it is also UV reactive. It's also supposed to lower temperatures as well.

The white water works with A64? Does that mean the dtek Spiral works with a64 too? dtekcustoms.com has 0 documentation...

Not officially, but you can rig it to work.

**update** i've ordered my stuff, and did upgrade to 1/2" tygon, ordered directly from US Plastics ;) Everything but the radiator and 2 aluminum fans i bought from frozencpu.com, the rad and fans i got from voyeurmods.com, i've since learned that heatercores have better flow rates and heat distribution than black ice rads.
i changed to an MCP600 pump and double floppy bayres, the tank-o-matic doesnt have big enough fittings for me :D
i tried to order the hydrX, but they are currently out, in few weeks i'll check back for it. i didnt go with the WW as its just that bit more expensive than the RBX, and i am trying to limit the number of suppliers i was getting my stuff from.
everything should arrive next week sometime, so i will keep posts of how the modding goes. next post i'll also add some pics of my case how it is now.

Is it just me or does it look like half the processor is uncovered by the RBX? I doubt It makes a diff since the core is covered but looks half-assed to me.

looks that way, but may be because its only been designed so far for the socket a and 478, that and the A64 proc has that heatshield on the top of it, so thats not the top of the dye, which is where we are most concerned about. but i will have pics when the kit gets in next week
i'd have pics up, but they are too big apparently, so i need to decrease their size or learn html again to make a page for them

sandman, you have the same proc as i do, what did you do to oc it?
finally, i have pics! (now if i could just figure out how to do multiple ones...info anyone?)

Mine is maxed at 2.35ghz with the vcore I have available, it would be great if I could get 1.85-1.9V to shove through this chip, but no cigar.
Where's your max out at?
You can only attach one pic per post, so just make more than one post in a row and attach a pic in each until you run out of pics.

havent yet, working on getting all the info i can before i jump into it, and again, waiting for my stuff to get in  i'm army, i like lots of intell and good kit before i start gettin into the s***
you shouldn't have any problem fitting the stuff,
might get ideas from my setup

yeah i took a look at one of your earlier posts, your running almost the same idea i am, in an ident lian chassis. lol its gonna be stuffed right full, but i'm thinkin i might put the rad on the right hand side externally, give it better cooler air, and have its fans inside suckin air behind the mobo tray.

alright its been a DAMN long wait, caused by a small mess up at frozenCPU on my mailing addresss ( you can guess how fustrated thats had me, the stuff had to ship twice   ). but i FINALLY have most of the stuff. just waiting on my swiffy hyrdex additive.
sorry been away so long, but yeah, being army, and field training for the last 2 weeks, i'm totally zombified. i only got home last night, at least the goodies were waiting for me :D
the goodies: 2x120mm heatercore from voyeurmods, w/ shroud, 2x 120mm aluminum AOC fans, 1X dual floppy bayres (it didnt come with fittings so some home depot shopping to do today), the glorious MCP600 pump and Y, 1/2inch fittings, A64 RBX, 10ft of Tygon 1/2" ID tube, some wire rap, dual 12inch UV CCL's, a UV lazer LED triplet, UV blue reactive floppy and ATA133 cables, and 2x 10inch UV blue glowing SATA cables.
yeah, gotta lotta work cut out for me, and i still havent finished my cleaning and repacking of all my army kit. but just HAD to get into the gucci w/c stuff to see it. and yes, bring on the PICS!!!

the RBX, and yes, its smaller than the proc. but with that heatspreader on the A64, and most of the heat being on center of dye, not to mention thermal conduction of heat, the RBX should have no problem dropping some nice temp.

not quite mirror finish out of the box. but some 1200 grit 5 micron sandpaper should take care of that!
will update later on progress as i start setting up, and more pics to come!
Looks like some good stuff. Can't wait to see all that put into that case.

day 1's efforts, i dont even know where to begin...its been long and fustrating already.
starters was stripping the case, all the internals out, then marking out the drilling to be done. the actual drilling is where things started bad. first off, drilling into the fins of the rad to mount it, ripped a line. :temper: you can quess my anguish. but!!!! ****ed and off he goes, to the part source down the road! $60 CAN gets a 88 chevette heater core, which helps having wider fins than the voyeur mod hc :) alright we're on the get go again.
next of course is that the 88 chevette core isnt as long as the other thing, so yeah, my nice markings and mount holes are now outta place. oh, and it does not help that appartently heater cores are not made very square either  so...tinkering for a few hours gets me planting in new mounting holes out of place, and since i dont want to waste that nice acrylic shrould and dual aluminum 120's, i jigsaw a smaller opening instead, and break a blade in the process! anyways, its probably going to screw flow for now, but its a patch and will work. *wondering at the pressure thats gonna create thru the core*
onwards... drilled the holes on the base for the swiffy pump...and break a drill bit in the process! not even thru the first hole! yeah...off to rona and buy a new bit. (did i mention these are my grandpa's tools? he was alright with the breakage, happens all the time as anyone in the DIY world knows)
and finally, did my PS a bit of wire wrapping, nice black wire sleeve zapped into place.
*edit* oh yeah, and got the fans mounted on the shroud as well*
tomorrow should be interesting indeed.
and now for the pics!
prepped and ready (or so i thought) for drilling and cutting

day 3 saw the install of the rad, pump, and bayres. not bad, aside from redrilling a hole for the radiator mount to fit properly. shoved it on up in there, bolted it down, bolted down the pump.
next...tube layout. tell ya something, for those who dont have it. tygon GRIPS. once its on a barb, especially plastic...its not lettin' go ;) when you try fitting it then want to pull it off to add barbs, get someone to help you pull the sucker off. did that a couple times
once cut and in place, after repositioning the rbx twice because it was kinking after putting on the outlets and y, i bolted all the clamps down. somehow i highly doubt this thing will leak.
filling and bleeding took about an hour, and a few spills. all told, aprox. 915ml of distilled h2o, 4 1/4' of tubing. the bayres doesnt like filling all the way, because of the cap fitting, so there is still some air left over there, but at least it lets me know theres flow!
oh, and lapped the rbx, down to 5 micron grit after an hour and a half.
so now we wait, as the swiffy hums gently away, leak testing. if all is cool, by tomorrow evening after work, the system will be up and running!!! :D
check the reflection

update, still leak testing, i'm piggy-backing power off of my other machine for the pump. its been going around 8 hours now :) the swiffy warms up a bit after that long. i havent hit the alum fans yet till now...all i can say is wow, lots of airflow, but lots of noise, definitely not leaving the fans turning overnight.

and finally the finished product, after a serious amount of reassembly and squeezing things inside piece by piece. and yeah i have a couple of bends in there, but i cant do much about them unforunately.its really cramped in there! but it looks soooo good sittin here in front of me
runs at 30C perfect on idle. havent loaded it down yet, thats next, probably after long weekend.

Don't use hydrx, it will cloud up ur tubes like it did to mine. I changed to using vw/audi antifreeze and the tubes are still crystal clear after a month. The hydrx clouded up my tubes in like 2 weeks or so.

Thanks for the info. I ordered the stuff and it STILL hasnt come in yet, gonna phone voyeurmods and tell them to stuff it and refund me. What ratio do you use of it the a/f and is it UV reactive?
Speaking of clouding, even on distilled h2o, my tubes still clouded and thats after a few months now  now i gotta drain and clean them. is simple green still the way to go on that? and if someone can find me good link on draining and cycling some of that stuff thru, i'd seriously apprec.

just a thought here. If ure not getting anything else from voyeurmods, then u can just as well buy from this guy and slap 10 bucks off the price for the rad and ypu get 2 fans as well. Not sure getting 2 deltas is a good thing tho...:) Also the same dude make nice shrouds for those rads.

i use about 20% of the antifreeze with distilled water. works really well. doesnt glow like uv reactive stuff but at least my tubes are not ugly

yeah, going to do a full flush this weekend, run some simple green with water thru, and get that a/f.

I saw an earlier post where you got your heater core and the shroud from voyeurmods.com. Yet when I visit their site I only see these think shrounds, your looks to be about 1 inch thick. Can you provide a link the shroud you purchased?
Cfn Nexus
06-18-04, 06:54 PM
Its under the heatercores, you click on one of them, and it has a drop-down for "add acrylic shroud". And if you look at the top of my rig, you'll see that yeah, they are about 1 inch thick, not the best for functionality, they arent thick enough to generate the full effect needed, but then i didnt know they were that bad when i got it. same with trying to mount it to that rad, there are no holes, and the spaces between fins are tiny, so yeah botched it. kept the shroud since i dont have the resources to make a good one myself, it looks decent on the top of my case, and now have 2x120mm 79cfm fans blowing onto one chevette core. advise: dont use their shrouds unless you can help it.

Sardan, if u follow the link i provided, u can get metal shroud instead if u like. they seem quite a bitdeeper and are fairly good priced. the dude has got tons of them.
makes them himself apearently.
