I've got a TBird 1Ghz Doing 1400 at 1.85V and I know she'll do
1.5Ghz. Thing is, at 1.4ghz my temps at 40-43c Idle and 45-48
Full load. The MAX being 50c.
Im using Artic Silver paste but Im using a standard heatsink.
(Its one Big MOFO heatsink though)
Anyhow is this ok, I mean to run it at these temps. I can't spend any cash right now on a better heatsink.

if your cpu is stable it is no problem to run at those temps. but if you want to hit 1.5GHz then you will probably need a better heatsink&fan combo to keep it stable as the temps will rise even more if you get 100MHz more. save some money to buy a new heatsink and then go for 1.5

What fans are you using for the case and what is the placement of said fans?

id say that i a LITTLE on the warm side- but if your chip is running fine-then maybe just add a fan so you can rest at night knowing that if your house temps go up it wont fry but thats a decent temp as long as its stable-you cant ask for muckh less@that speed with air cooling-might wanna try and lapp the HS to drop a degree or 2

Ah, yeh. I have 4 case fans (Including the PSU fan).

PSU Fan = Blowing out
Front Case fan = Blowing in
Back case fan over CPU = Blowing out
Slot fan beside Videocard = BLowing out.
Casetemps are never above 27c and most of the time around 24c
I got the Air Conditioning on all the time in the house.

One other thing, whenI set the voltage to 1.85V my board
DFI AK76-SN (ddr board) always shows 1.93-1.95V in the bios AND in the the Via HW monitor. Like whats up with that? I know I have set the voltage right. I mean my temps idle are 40-43c right,so I don't believe its actually getting 1.93 but having the bios tellme it is, scares the sh** out of me.

That is it!! You voltages are that high and just compensate for the high voltages. I have the same problem, I choose 1.72 in my BIOS and it actualy is 1.85. I get a .12-.13 variation between what I choose it to be and what it reads. I would lower it until you get it to where you want it accoeding to temp readings, not what you choose, try it and see.

Well, actually right now Im running at default speed (1ghz) and default Voltage but its showing 1.83V in the bios.

Also, what do you mean, voltages are that high to compensate?

In the screen in the BIOS that you CHOOSE the voltages, for example 1.75 v-core. say you choose this one and re-boot. Now when you go to the BIOS screen that says ACTUAL temp it reads, higher right? What is the variation of the CHOOSEN temp and the ACTUAL temp? Use this variation to get 1.75 or whatever you want. For example if I wanted 1.75 in MY bios I would choose 1.62 since I have a .13 variation.

Well, the thing is, I ran it at 1400 with 1.8v once and the comp lockedup while playing Counter-Strike. Given the lockup could have been cause by other things cause I play Max Payne all the time with no problems.
Is it bad to run it at 1.85v knowing the bios says 1.93v ? I mean if my temps are low would it still be ok?

But why run it at a higher voltage if you don't have to? Those temps you have are good but not great. People sometimes wonder why my temps are so low it is cause I run at the lowest voltage my CPU can handle. If you can have lower temps, why not?

k, it says im getting 1.82v right now, so Im gonna set my voltage to 1.8vand repost onceits going at 1.4 again andI'lllet you know how its goin.

Its running at 1.4ghz now at 1.9v and tepms idle are 42c.
