What specifically makes an Intel system a celeron, I've heard it's the chipset, is this correct?

it's the processor.
No, its the CPU. Depending on what chipset you have you can run Socket 370 or Socket 478, either a Celeron or P3 or P4

Is it a P4 based celly or a P3 based one? The P3 ones were realy nice, but the P4 ones couldnt stand up to an XP running at half their speed.
