Will it fold on a P166 ?
I didn't think so..
What kind of work would I get done with 20 PII300's?
I would set them up as diskless nodes.
With 128Mb pc100 memory.
Would they work well as Tinker machines?
Do they still send Tinkers?
Thanks,

The 166 MAY make the deadlines if run 24/7 with minimal things running in the OS and you never using it. The PII 300's will make the deadlines while running 24/7, they will just take a while but it's a good way to start out! Fold On!!!!

your gonna have trouble making the dead lines, its a good start though.

There will be no OS on them.
I'm going to set them up to boot off the network.
I've seen this done before.

Those 300s should be able to make deadlines. And with 20 of them, you should see a nice PPW increase. I say try one to make sure it will make the deadlines and then go for it.

Yup, try with one, see how you do and go from there.

What about an AMD 333mhz?

333MHz should make it no problem. I started folding on my parents 350MHz PII and I made the deadlines.

Most of the systems I'm finding out are 350-450 PII.
Should be able to run them, but will be slow.
The quanity is what I'm going for.
As I get more working capital I'll replace each node with a better PC.

I had read that G@H was done also but noticed they still have the option to make it the preferred project under advanced options of the console client. I chose it just to see what I got. I didn't receive any error it just dl'd the 65 core and gave protein 1108 which has no final deadline and is only 40 frames. So even though the G@H project is closed this may still be be a good option for those folders with older procs.
