Is there a difference between the first released wd 74gb raptors and the new ones? Have there been any changes? How would I know if I have a new version or an old one? Is there a part number change? I am loking at one on ebay and curious if I will get the latest one and how to know for sure.
Thanks

To my knowledge I dont think that there are different versions, or generations of the raptor 74gb drive. Could be wrong though.

There's only the first generation 36gb raptors and the second generation 74gb raptors, nothing else.

and reports show that the latest 74gb raptors are AWESOME in performance, rivaling many SCSI drives, and achieving this at a lower cost point while being quieter !!!

I picked one up too, but I think my old Raided 36gb raptors did as well if not better. Install time for xp pro was longer with the single 74gb too. I will keep using it though to see. Will probably hook up the old drives and do some benchies this weekend. HDtach and ATTO, any others?
