I am interested in purchasing a Geforce2 but would like some input as to which one is the best (or better)?

Right now I have a:
AMD TBird 1.2 266fsb
256 Ram
30 gig hd
Voodoo 3 2000 (running V3 3000 bios)

Unreal Tournament avgs 33.23 fps @ 1280x1024 all detail.

the Geforce 2 that I have found are as follows:
Geforce 2 MX $72
Geforce 2 mx 400 $78
Geforce GTS $135.

Not sure which brand they are but the guy I talked to said they are really great.

Would LOVE a Geforce3 but money wise its a no go right now in the foreseeable future. Is the GTS good for the price or would I be ok with the MX for $72? Or is the MX400 good for that price? Been awhile since I walked in the Realms of Video Cards. Thanx

A lot of people seam to be happy with there geforce2 mx 400's. Dont just get any mx make sure its the 400 if you do decide to get a mx. The GTS is better then the mx, the pro better then the GTS, and the ultra better then the pro. All depends on how much you want to spend, but the gf2 pro isnt much more then 135 so look into it.

of the three, i'd for the gts. it is a lot faster than the mx, and a video card is not something you update often. i reckon it'd be a bit short-sighted to go for a budget card when the gts is not expensive at all.

I've got a Creative Labs 3D Annihilator 2 card (GeForce 2 GTS) 32MB and it is great! I bought the card for $250 when it had just been released, and now I believe you can get one for about $130. I've never had a problem with the card, so I would highly recommend it.

Your best bet now is probably going to be a Geforce2 Pro. 64 megs and 4.5 ns memory (on the Gainward Pro/450) that will easily overclock to 460-480 MHz, puts you just about at Ultra performance for only about $150. Several listings on PriceWatch at or below that price.

I just got one last week to replace an MX. Couldn't be happier w/ the performance, runs Max Payne @1280 x 1024 w/ all settings maxed out and anisotropic filtering, no problem.

Go for a pro, I run an asus v7700 pure pro 64meg 200/400. In the long run you will be thankful you didnt buy an mx or the like.I average 120 fps in ut all high and not overclocked.

I have to concur... the specs for the Gainward 450 are really sweet for $147 at www.pricewatch.com

I'd like to thank everyone for thier input It has helped tremendously. The pro sounds really good, it's just the $150 i'm worried about. The GTS for $135 was really gonna push me. I think for now I'll just get the MX-400 and then when taxes come back next yr, I'll dabble with the Geforce3. Again thanks for your input.
