I've got a Duron 800, and I need a peltier.
I need edvice on the W to use. 50w? 85w?.
I don't even know how much heat my cpu generates(in watts). And do I need Water-cooling?
- I've a nice Taisol Copper-Base HSF (Max 1.4Ghz) on now, with temps of 36C/98F on the cpu.

Wellllllllllllllllllll

I assume you will be OCing the chip. Otherwise you wouldn't be in an Overclockers forum..........and you would definately not be asking about pelts. According to Radiate........if you OC to 1000mhz (which seems to be the norm for the D800) you are going to be putting out exactly 60W of heat. This is assuming you use a Vcore of 1.85.

I have read in many places that you need a pelt with TWICE the amount of W's as your CPU puts off. So 60W x 2 = 120W pelt.

Hope this helps. And I reserve the right be completely wrong about anything and everything I just said. :D :p

120 is just about right. With your setup, you'll be generating 51 watts of heat. A 120 watt pelt will give you plenty of room to overclock if you choose to anymore. For a 120 watt peltiers, you'll probably need water-cooling, that or a very, very good heatsink and fan.

My recommendation is that you try water-cooling first, then a peltier if you're not happy with the results

I just noticed something, Welcome to the Forums

I agree 100%, I don't thing that a HSF-pelt combo is anything but gimicky, water wil get that Duron down to where you want it to be, now if you invest in a 1.4 'bird, you will definately want a 156w pelt, and water, ...if you want to get over 1.7 IMO
