look for strange processes under the task manager, look for strange programs in the registry in HKLM\software\microsoft\windows\curent version\run...

If IE will not run, open my computer and and use that to browse the web. It is the same thing as IE. Just type the address in the address bar and away you go.... Go to symantec's website, and do some research.

Good luck!

Can you boot to your 2K or XP setup CD? You may be able to do a repair installation, or if you made an emergency disk, repair the existing one. However, if its badly corrupted enough, a reinstall may be the only choice.

hmm, this is like a problem I had on my other computer awhile ago. RunDll32, or any application, just gave errors when running. I tried to repair on XP, but it didn't work. I ended up having to format and reinstall.

Good luck getting it fixed. I suggest you backup your files as soon as you can, in case it gets worse...

well i did reinstall win2k...didn't ask for the disks...so i forgot about it altogether. but will that help?
at first it gave an error while loading about this spool(c) something like that...next reboot it was gone. then it was svchost...then vanished.
i tried to rename rundll32 and svchost, in order for windows to replace with good ones, but still to no avail.
as i said, i tried to install xp over it, didn't work either.
the setup jsut doesn't come up!
but i am confused now because 3 online scanners didn't detect any virus...i was thinking virus did that.
see if you guys can come up with anything...otherwise i will HAVE to do lotsa work!! you know, finding another hdd to back up and format, and stuff...geee...hate to even think about reinstalling everything!!
i saw in a thread that i can reinstall win2k on another folder, and reinstall progs on top of where they were before. then deleting the older win2k. ammm...how exactly do you delete the older one/ just delete the folder??
just kept me thinking.
