hd upgrade

hi. one of my buddies at school is looking at upgrading to a larger hard dirve. His current computer is a dell (pIII) with a 6gb ide drive. If i was to put in a larger drive, say about 80gb, would there be any issues with the dell motherboard being able to recognize this substantially larger drive? Thanks.

I don't think there would be an issue with an 80GB drive in his computer. If it was going to be 137+GB drive, that's a different story. Make sure he has the latest BIOS for his MB and he should be good to go.

I would agree with tweakerxp. Just for reference I built a computer for my brother with a celeron in it (1ghz) and i just recently put in a 80gb with no troubles. If you want even more assurance look at the latest bios release and see if it adds support for large drives.
