Are you laughing yet ? Is some fool really going to put a quality Antec against some Ibest ?

Last week I posted I had a NEW Antec true 430 and had extreamly low rails.Everyone in defense of antec said use a multi meter. Well i did not do that because my 3.5 year old CompUsa 500 watter always read 11.98 and 4.92 on it's rails untill it died.

So I lived with the Antec UNTILL my alcheapo IBest 650 watt supply arrived. $39.00 lol..

This IBEST has better rails then the Antec and has out puts for 12v and 3.3v built in as well as 4 110v outlets in the back..12.04 and 4.87 and 3.25 ... better then the Antec which was at 11.67 and 4.87 and 3.15.

Well just wanted to post this because, I think to many of us are stuck on a company, That I am seeing more and more compaints on rails and failures.....Peek around some forums there are quite a few complaints on Antec and it seams the answer is USE A MULTI METER.Well I may be dumb but if the power supply I had read close to it's rated voltages in MBM5, I expect Antec to do that as well.............................................. ...Or include some special tool to read there correct voltages..Peace Antec..Ibest just waged your dog............................................... .................

Good luck with the Ibest - hope it works out for you. I've never even seen one, so it'll be interesting to see how it does. The multiple outlets could come in handy.

Gotta disagree on the meter thing though as far as definitively checking the rails of a suspect PSU - I've been an electronics tech too long to put any faith in MBM readings. They're significantly affected by the motherboard's own voltage regulators and other circuitry. If you went by my own MBM readings, my PSU is a POS, which is just not true - it's held up for almost two years of heavy use in an overclocked system. On the 5v rail (the CPU runs off it on this board) under load I get as far down as 4.44v@2420 - meter gives me 3.39/5.03/12.27 - runs perfectly stable, but sometimes I worry about the board's mosfets when running things that hard. The CWT's fan kicked the bucket once a few months back, but that's about all the trouble I've had with it.

I just want to add you went from power supplies that are 650 and 500 watts to an Antec that is 430watts. At least if you got the TruePower 480 it would be a closer comparision and your system would stress anything under 450watts. I use the 480 on my system and even the original 350SL that came with my SLK3700AMB would provide enough power.

It's true though Antec is still just a brand. You get lucky sometimes on no name brand power supplies and with Antec it's still more hit than misses. Glad that your 39.99 Power supply works for you.

Let me say this though. The antec was powering very little compaired to the bigerr supplies.I have 6 drives,7 fans 2 processors 9800 pro.

Antec was powering only 1 Drive NO fans the 2 processors and the 9800 everything else was powered off a second PSU..Or left out of service.

The I best is powering 6 drives, the 2 processors and the 9800.So multi meter or not, the means of measurement are exactly the same even if there is a flaw in it, the flaw should be affecting both supplies equally.
