Lay the chip on it's back so all the pins are pointing up. There are little tiny blocks in the center of the chip -- count them. If it's completely full and has no empty spots, then you have 30 of them.
I don't have a screenshot on-hand, but I'm sure someone will post one shortly.
this is what I have..
intel
pentiun4
3 ghz/512/800
sl6wk costa rica
3349a845
is this good or what??

You don't need to count them, its either 12 or 30.
ok, I,m asking to find out if this one will overclock good.. if not i will return it. it has 12 caps..
how long would it take to return this to newegg and get my refund on my cc so i can order a good one from pcsupplysource?? or is this just a hit and miss thing with a good one..

the chips with 30 tend to overclock better, although and yours isnt a SL6WU which also tend to overclock better.
Its up to you on whether you want to wait and get a chip from pcsupplysource or keeps this one and see how it clocks. If it was me id probably send it back if i could. :)
how long would it take to get my money back so i can buy another one? anybody know??

actualy this 30 endcaps Intel made on all EE procs
probably thats extra room for 2mb l3 cache
so 3.0c proc is some kind of EE hibrid

It's really just a packaging change so that Intel doesn't have to produce more than one type of P4 C processor. They use the same package design for all of them now to cut down on production cost.
Here is an explaination with pics of 30 vs. 12 caps:

pcsupplysource is out of SL6WU's.......

Over here in the UK, when I do refunds at work it usually takes about 3 or 4 days for credit card refunds to go back onto the card.

Take a look:
SL6WK
I just ordered 2 SL6WK chips from PCSupplySource this morning. I called to get 2 SL6WUs for 2 rigs I'm building, but they were out and not sure if they're gonna get anymore. The 2 that I bought are both Week 51 of 2003 and were packed on March 1, 2004 and March 3, 2004.
I hope they're good, but if not...oh well. They aren't going in one of my rigs ayway.

You'll never know what a SL6WU/SL6WK will reach for sure until you "Go for It":burn:
