Hello everybody,

Sorry to bother you with my problem... and sorry for my bad english too ! ;-)
And thanks for helping me!

Well, I have a problem with my old KT7A... and my new Athlon XP 2000+

Please, could you have a look to my computer?

Abit KT7A Rev 1.1 : Bios A935 (from OC-MASTER)
AMD AthlonXP 2000+ @ 1250 (12.5X100), 1.65V : 35°C/
256Mo RAM
64MB CREATIVE GeForce2 TI
HD : MAXTOR 120Go + MAXTOR 80Go
Creative Sound Blaster
AOPEN 300W? + APOEN HQ08
Plextor 24/10/40A and DVD Pioneer 106s

Well, the problem is that as you see, I cannot pass the 133, so it is impossible to run my XP2000+ at 1666MHz, even with the Bios of OC-Master!

When I use the 133/33, whatever the mutli is, the mother refuses to start and I have to reset and set it back @ 1250MHz… THAT IS NOT COOL AT ALL ! ;-)

Could you help me please?

Is there something that I missed... Well, it works fine in 1250... but I would like to have more potential ! ;-)

Thanks a lot

Have a nice day!

Erol

Thanks a lot Johan851 !

Officially Yes, Only the rev.1.3 supports the Athlon XP.
But many people seem to be able to have it work, isn't it?

Here are some threads talking about it:

I had no problem at all to run my old Athlon 800 (8X100/33) @ 840 (6X140/35) so there was no problem with the 133.

But what is so magic on the Athlon XP that makes it not work like the previous ones?

If I couldn't reach the 133, how could I have my board reach 1666MHz?
16X100 ? Is it possible?

OK, I am a beginner but I can learn quickly if someone shows me a little what to do...

Thanks a lot!

Erol ;)

Check if the processor is locked

Your XP 2000+ might be multiplier locked. Check to see if it is..that could be your problem.

Other than that, just follow the other threads you listed and see if you can find a multiplier/fsb setting that works. Nothing manual would work on mine...I had to go with the default settings.

Tanks a lot for your answer.

Could you tell me how I can check if it is locked?
For my old 800, I had to close the L1 bridges but on that one, it seems to be rather different...

For what I see, only the 1250MHz seems to be working...

I thought that all the Athlon XP where FSB 133...

Could you tell me which BIOS you would use on my KT7a Rev1.1?

Had a nice day everybody!

Erol
