Anyone here know how to get the stock HSF off of a slot P3? It's different than a P2 (for which there is a guide on the main page). Surely, someone has done this before. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Slot 1 P3? That butt-ugly stock HS that looks like an iron porcupine? I made one o' them my b17c|-|.
Get a drill bit, I think about 1/8". Flip it over so you're facing the plastic side, oppose the actual HS. There are four pins that you have to drill out. Be careful, they're plasic, so they won't put up much resistance, and you don't wanna damage the PCB underneath. Drill the four of them out, and HS will fall right off.
If it's some other HSF, I got nothing. But I'm thinking it'll work the same way.

Rats! That's what I was afraid of. I was hoping that there was some sort of tab or something I was missing. :-) Oh well. It looks like my drill and I have a date with destiny. Thanks!
I tried yanking them off from the HS side, but they just snapped. So I grabbed the drill, and got on it. But be slow and be careful. I did it, and so can you.
