I just got my Audigy 2 ZS in the mail and was wondering if there was anyway to hook up to stereo speakers with the typical 2 wire connections that you hook up to a reciever. I realize that I can hook them up threw a reciever, but is there anyway I can do it without the reciever?

Well the speakers will need some source of power. The Audigy only sends out the analog signals which is too weak to power the speakers themselves so you would need a DC power supply for the speakers in order for them to work correctly.

Please correct me if I am wrong anyone.

You need an amp of some kind.

you could get a plain old plate amp instead of a reciever or pro-amp. www.partsexpress.com has a selection of them and some are inexpensive, but you would still have to lay down some decent cash

You'd need a 1/8" stereo to RCA converter, then an amp, then go to your speakers.

Plate amps are commonly used for subs, but Pro audio plate amps would be good for full range. It could be done. Maybe make a wooden enclosure for the amp.
