crash then uncrash?!

(Not sure if this is the right place for this thread,here goes...)

My girlfriends computer just did the wierdest thing. First she heard some sort of low-volume beeping from the case then everything froze. Windows, mousepointer, everything! While she tought about if she should wake me or not. Suddenly she heard the same beeping and everything just unfroze. It all lasted for 1-2 mins.
I ran mbm5 and the temps are a bit high, case->26c cpu->49c at 24c room temp. This is a stock system. athlon1200 on a soltek 75kav. Powered by a q-tec 450w. I know, it's crap, but its good enough to power this rig. All the rails look good too. GPU is tnt2.
Any ideas? Is this the silence before the storm?

...weird. run a virus scan...and some spybot. if nothing comes up, well, think of it as a bad dream. hardware innocloucies happen, some of the things i've seen are just plain weird. like dos saying "die". anyways, i'll jsut sasy its probly okay...just crsoo your fingers and defrag it :p

She did a full virus-scan after the machine unfroze. Nothing. I'll hope there isn't a storm around the corner... hmm... That would give me an upgrade exuse..:)
