Say for instance, too much came out, and got some fingers covered, and 2 together ... how would I go upon gettting it off. the package says run under water, but my fingers are getting pruny around the glue. Any help would be good, thx(damn aqua via 1300)

also some got on the magnet of the pump by the impeller. Is that going to do any damage to that? Thx

try some acetone. If that doesn't work I would give kerosene and/or gasoline a try.

Taken from http://tips.tipking.com/health/tip_443.shtml

"Superglue sometimes called crazy glue, bonds in seconds. I must admit that I have been careless in the past and have had it on my fingers. Well if you have glued your fingers together read on. (You may want to ask someone to scroll the page for you incase you get stuck to the keyboard! Joke!)

The first thing not to do is panic. The glue will do no harm as long as you do not try to pull your fingers apart. Just soak the affected areas in warm soapy water and gently prise the fingers apart with the handle of a small spoon. Just go slow and you should be okay. If it hurts you are trying too hard.

To remove super glue or crazy glue from your fingers the following is the recommended advice. Exposure to water will help to wear away the glue from your skin. Acetone otherwise known as nail varnish remover can also help to speed up the process. However at the end of the day you will still have to gently pick the glue away with your fingernail, slowly peeling the glue away like removing a plaster or band-aid.

If your fingers are stuck with a rubber based glue then there are hand cleaners available, certain solvents will remove certain glues so read the container the glue came in for details of which one to use....

If you are really stuck and non of the advice seems to appeal to you then I suggest you see medical attention as soon as possible. Do take the glue container with you to the hospital as that will help the staff release you.

Visitors tips
I do custom framing. I once spilled glue, similar to Crazy Glue while gluing a plastic frame together. I was unaware that the glue had run between my fingers and had adhered my fingers together and my hand to the frame as well. Called Poison Control, pharmacies and no one could help. I tried all types of solvent removers and nothing worked. Finally, as a last resort, before going to the hospital, I sprayed my hand with WD-40 and it caused the glue to almost crystalize. It worked, I was able to remove the piece of moulding from my hand and eventually worked my fingers loose. It took some time and some residual glue remained and had to wear off, but it was amazing how it worked!"

very impressive that you typed this with your fingers glued together

acetone or gasoline would work, as william just said. also, some paint thinner would work as well. water probably wouldnt do anything, as the dried glue isnt water soluble

Acetone
ethyl acetate
fingernail polish remover (can contain either of the above)

Takes it right off, no sweat.

If all else fails, paint thinner or lighter fluid might do it too :p

I recommend nail polish remover. They always work in seconds and no damage done. *has glued his hands together plenty of times together when he was young*

Of course, having your hands glued together and buying nail polish remover in walgreens will surely give ppl some weird ideas. :D

Nail polish remove will work just as well. If you want to buy acetone, you can go to anywhere (K-Mart, Hardware Store, Meijers, etc...). Basically any place that sells paint.

Good luck :D... And yes you want to get that off the pump impeller. The only place you want superglue on is when you are fixing it or modding it from making noise, in which you glue the plastic impeller to the magnet rod (so they don't move--- they are normally loose like that so if any chunks of fish poo or something gets stuck that it doesn't ruin your pump). But you don't want glue anywhere else. You can use acetone on the metal, but beware of using it on the plastic (if its plastic) impeller blade thingy.

When **** like that happens to me I use water and dirt(!) to get the glue to settle. Then I take a barbers knife and remove it mechanical from my fingers, Yeah, I know! Cavemans sollution, but I hate to loose the feelings in my fingers.... Be careful, don't remove your fingers by mistake....
