View Full Version : Which bridge do I blow?

I have an NF7-S v2.0 and a Mobile Athlon XP 2600+. I'm just trying to make the CPU a desktop chip.
1. Currently, only the second L5 bridge from the left is cut. Do I just have to cut the third L5 bridge from the left?
2. What will happen if I do not mod the processor before I install it?
Thanks
EDIT: Explained which mod I needed.
EDIT #2: Is this true:
Blowing the third bridge will produce an MP.
Blowing the third and fourth bridges will produce a desktop XP.

What mod are you trying to do?

I'm trying to get the chip to run in the motherboard at its stock settings.

I'm kind of confused here as to why you would need to mod your chip to run at stock? Now I'm not a rocket scientist but wouldn't it run at stock if you just put it in the motherboard and run it?

It is a mobile chip, and the motherboard is for desktop processors.

With an NF7-S v2 and a Mobile 2500+, you don't need to cut anything, I don't believe ... all your multis are factory unlocked, are they not? I don't recall the speed of a 2500+ stock, but maybe 14 x 133 FSB. That would give you a speed of 1862 Mhz.

dont do it.you dont need to you just have to change the multiplier and maybe raise the volts.mine wouldnt run past 1.2 ghz until i raise the volts.

Cutting bridges won't changes any settings except the CPU Name string... Instead of showing up as Unknown CPU, it will show up as AthlonXP, if that is worth for you to risk your chip, blow your warranty then go ahead.
To actually change any settings, like stock multiplier or FSB you will have to mod the L3s and L12s respectively.
Also I heard that these new packaging don't like the bridges being blown either, you can screw up your chip.
But disconnecting only the 3rd L5 will give you an MP, yes, disconnecting both 3rd and 4th will give you an XP. I wouldn't risk it tho...
