I currently have my Maxtor HDD on IDE 1 by itself,
DVD-ROM and CD-RW on IDE 2 --Master/Slave
I'm thinking of getting a DVD-RW(Plextor 712A) and maybe a SATA HDD(Raptor).
With the SATA HDD freeing up IDE 1 would it be best to put the DVD-ROM by itself on IDE 1 and place the DVD-RW and CD-RW on IDE 2 Master/Slave for best performance?
The DVD-RW will be used mostly for "backing up" movies and debates.

I'm using the Asus A7N8X Deluxe----

Thanks-----

Yes you will want to place the dvdrom on IDE 1 by itself so that you can copy discs from it to the devices on IDE 2 while concurrently accessing each.

You want the drives you will be using at the same time to be on seperate channels. :)
