try twisting it with moderate force look to see if it moves a bit if it does twist it a bit harder and pry upward with aq small amount of force, if it doesnt move at all when you try twisting it, then your gonjna have to freeze it "yes in the freezer" and give it a quick shearing twist and it should pop off

Here is the safest and easiest method, I have done it 1/2 dozen times.
1. Place video card in a ziplock bag.
2. Place bag in the freezer, you heard right.
3. Leave it in for 20-30 minutes.
4. Remove from bag and immediately pry off heatsink w/ a putty knife or the like.
This method freezes the adheshive, therefore making it easy to pop off.

got a question....which is better...leaving the heatsink on and putting the fan on it...or taking heatsink off and then put the blue orb on it

Good question, for the trouble I'd just use the stock heatsink and mount the new fan on it.

But the benefit of being able to lap the heatsink with some quality compound will increase performance and reliability, so it's a trade off... risk damaging the card getting the old heatsink off, or take the chance and get noticeable improvement...

Let me put it this way, I've never removed a heatsink from a video card; but then again, my geforce cards have all been good enough quality it wasn't necessary.

It's really your call.

so either way they both give you about the same performance??
