Hi...I recently got rid of all my stuff and decided to jump on the 2500m and a shuttle nforce2 ultra. So now my next thing I still wondering and unsure is the ram and have a few questions.

I know the bh5 is the best, but Im not sure if I can spend over $300 for one gig. I would like to hit around 200-220mhz or more if possible, my main question is there any other rams that will help me do this, or I have to get those bh5 like from mushkin. Are there other bh5 chips that is a little more affordable than the mushkin level 2 black 222? Are there other rams that would help me hit those mhz beside the mushkin bh5? Should I get the pc3200 or the 3500. Thank you.

WELCOME TO THE FORUMS!!!
...and the sickness:eek:

Nah...BH5 is somewhat over-rated. If the goal is 220, CH5 based modules will work perfectally.

CH5 comes within 10% of BH5 at 1/2 the price...

Example of cheap, High quality CH5 in a 1Gig pack

$219.50

Or better yet how about this:
http://www.ec.kingston.com/shop/partsinfo.asp?ktcpartno=KHX3000K2/1G&Promo=boost
^^ That is both cheap...AND BH5

If you give it enough voltage you will have no trouble getting to 220

Thank you....if I want more than 220, is there other better and costless alternatives that will give the same performance as the bh5 mushkin?

You could try bh6, which is bh5's that failed to work at 2-2-2-5, but they are just as expensive as bh5 right now though because it is so hard to find anymore new bh5 except on ebay.

welcome to the forums my friend. i think sentinel is correct, get some ch5, or if u want to go faster i think the new samsumg pc3700 is a real good buy. they cant run real tight timings but they have a marvelous ability to run decent timings at 200 all the way to loose timings at 250-260..

thank you all. I stilll dont' understand much about those x-x-x-x numbers and what they means, can someone explain better???

Hi,

The numbers are just delay (in memory clock cycles) - so all things being equal, lower = "better" or at least it used to. See last article by OCZ regading changes to this idea.

Unfortunately, depending on the mfg, they will list it either as:
CAS-tRCD-tRP-TRAS or CAS-tRP-tRCD-TRAS

Hope this helps.
