So in there website they have a complete water cooling setup for a socket type system. Has anyone tried this? and i'm looking for opinions on this so please tell me what you think about this, personaly i thought the radiator was small and a car heater core would work better and the water resivour looks a little small that has the pump inside it. I was also thinking about a adding a pelt at the same time thus bringing on a few more questions. I think the 85W is to small except that for some reason my CPU runs really cool compared to most air cooled with 25C ambient mine runs full load around 30C to 34C so maybe it might work but i thought i'd throw this buy everyone here, also if i did find a pelt that was the rite size maybe around 120 do they make them so that they run off a normal PSU for a PC allthough i run a stipped system for gaming i'm positive I will need another one.

Are you looking at the Aquastealth setup?

The best waterblocks for pelts available currently are from Danger Den (http://www.dangerden.com) . They have a bolt on coldplate that allows proper pressure to be maintained on the pelts. The Aquastealth kit will probably be overwhelmed with the heat from a fast Bird. I notice they do not offer pelts capable of cooling a Bird.

You may want to read up on pelts. Try this
link (http://www.heatsink-guide.com/applying-peltiers/) and Kryotherm's (http://www.kryotherm.spb.ru/index.htm) pelt sizing program.

I've had very good dealings with that site, and highly recommend it to anyone who might ask. As for you needing watercooling with those temps.. what for? If that's anywhere near accurate, you're getting significantly better temps than most of us, and really don't need WC. I'm pumping 2.2 volts into this core to keep it over 1 GHz, and I'm getting 42 C CPU on 27 C ambient right now.. that's with really good air cooling.

I know my temps are not bad but what i'm shooting for is 1300 out of my p3 1g i can boot up fine and stay stable at 1292 but if my temps get anywhere near 34C It will lock up so now i'm thinking about Pelts and water cooling, I know the cost is not worth the few extra MHZ i may or may not get but i do plan to use this equipment on my next upgrade maybe a Amd or P4.

I did not realize you were using a PIII. An 85 watt pelt and a good HSF may do the trick assuming your PIII is putting out about 35 watts.

Thanks for the links ive read the first one before but i'll get to the second. I know my P3 runs very cool compared to most [i'm sure about the accuracy of my temps] so i may get lucky with the 85W one, I was thinking about getting the coldplate and drilling holes in it and the HS I would do the same except i would tapp the holes for bolts so i could mount it with a little pressure.

My main question i guess is geared towards my PSU and if 85W would be to much for my system with a 300W PSU, this is just a gaming rig and i only run whats in my sig except for a cheap CDrom drive and floppy. What i wonder is if i need a new PSU and i think i do for a pelt will a normal PSU for a PC work or should i get one that would work just for the Pelt.

OH thanks all.

I'm sorry I'm not able to give you a specific mathematical outline in regards to your power requirements, but you can determine what an 85w pelt will need in regards to amp draw over at Melcor's website. I have a 156w that I purchased a seperate Variable DC Power supply for, and I can assure you that in every post I've ever read regarding a Pelt, an external power source has always been the rule. There are so many factors involved, ie your case fans HDD, floppy, etc....
