I'm turning a small heatsink from an old MediaGX into a waterblock for my Video card. Unless it works really well, then it's a CPU block:D

I'm basically enclosing the 'sink in plexi, so I need to the epoxy to bond Aluminum to plastic and plastic to plastic.

I'd rather not use J-B Weld. It normally kicks butt, but it is not really very adhesive in this situation. My first try on this used it, but fell apart when I handled it.

This block will be on a heavy-use machine, so it has to be as perfect as I can get it. Any body have any ideas?

If JB weld wont hold it then i would not chance it to any glue, one mistake and its all gone.

If JB Weld did not hold, the surfaces were not prepped. Clean them with a good solvent like Goof Off first. JB Weld is just epoxy with steal particles in it. Any good water proof epoxy should work. Generally all epoxies except for the 5 minute versions are water proof.

Hmmm maybe I'm not using the J-B right. I made sure the surfaces were clean and roughened, but no Goof-Off or washing or anything. Where do I score some Goof-Off or something, Colin?

Last time I tried it I could scrape the J-B off the plexi, at least where it was in thin tendrils. It hadn't marked the plexi at all.

I hope I'm just doing it wrong cuz like outhouse said I'm screwed if it doesn't work.

Thanks for the advice

Target, Wall Mart or any hardware store. You may want to test Goof Off on the plex first. Some plastics don't get along with it.

Hey, thanks very much. I'll get some tomorrow.

I'm actually taking pictures of this little project, If I ever finish I might just post a little How-I-Did It article.
