lookin' for suggestions on whats the best...
i'm not talkin' like Norton or Symantec...
but a floppy based, OS independant, program that determines where a problem lies, even to boot a dead mobo.
"PC Testing Diagnostic, System Configuration, Memory Tests, Hard Drive Recovery, Remote Testing, CPU Identification, Burn-In Tests, Computer Repair, Self Boot Disks, Recondition Hard Drives, CD Rom Tests, Benchmarks" is a quote from one such proggie.
i'm looking for "unconditional formatting" and mobo troubleshooting in particular. CPU, and HDD testing is a nice bonus. i don't care about remote testing really.
some tools include #1 TuffTest, PC Certify, PC Diagnostic
to give you some idea what exactly i'm looking for.
it should cost something like $500 but be worth the investment in the long run. i'd like to avoid the "card" types in this thread, as that would be an additional purchase, not as a substitute for this.
TIA for any knowledge here! :D
