I have a pentium 3 coppermine FlipChipPGA 900 MHz processor, with a noisy case/cpu fan (because it blows cold air inside the computer, and it's just over the CPU !). It's an HP by the way. My question is, I touched the heatsink with the fan not blowing, and it was cool, even at full load ! So do I really need this Fan of could I just take it off and make a quieter system ? Thanks !

Hi minoukat,
If you're using the P/// 900 in your system well, it's absolutly needed the use of the fan!
But if the fan is very loud you can replace it with another or change your 'strange' HP cooler :-)

I hope it helps you.
