I am just starting to get togeather my new PC and am looking at different aspects of the system and consider the power supply to be a area of heat that is often over looked, has anyone modified the power supply to assist in cooling or replaced the fans with better performing items. What was the results ?

Hi UnseenMenace,
I'm considering to replace the thermo controlled fan of my Macron Ps 300w with a Sunon 80mm 43Cfm coz the other one make a poor airflow.

I cut the fan shroud sheet metal out of my power supply and put in different 80mm fans with crome grills. You can use tin-snips and cut the sheet metal out. The fans just screw in with the same ol fan screws. I even aded a hole on the top (the side oposite the circuit board to increase air flow. I used s Sunon high output 80mm fan at first but now I plan on either making a water block to cool it or at least putting in a quiet Panaflo fan. I want a silent or close to PC now. Just be careful when you open up the PSU like an earlier thread here said. Make sure you unplug it first and dont mucj around too much with the capacitors. I actually fully disassembled mine so I wouldn't get and metal bits in it from the cutting.
