Ign seems to already be talking about it. This is so likely. There are a lot of hints that give it away as well. For example the Desert Combat site hasn't been updated with "actual" desert combat news for ever. This could very well be because they are busy working on the game. Another is that they are way overdue on their next release of DC, which should be DC.8. Also if youv'e ever noticed, most game comes out with a v1.0, DC is at v.7, maybe they will do v.8, then v.9, and v1.0 will be Battlefield 2 that they and Dice are working on. Or they could just jump from v.7 to v1.0. Who knows, I was very skepticle about all this at first, and didn't believe it, but after reading a couple of sites that strongly felt it was true, and even IGN was telling its veiwers it would have a preview next month, well after all that and DC not updating their site made me think this was very true.

this could take a year...maybe two.
I'd hold off about seeing anything like this soon.
they want to sell BF:V, so I don't think they will rush BF:MW
I would like it, if they give you a little less "fog of war" then they do in BF:V

Nice. I wonder whats going to happen to DC, its great, but still needs work. And with BF:V, this could take that you, but I will definately be watching this.

This could be Battlefield: Modern Combat which is for PS2 and you can be the US China or Middle East Coalition and use all modern weapons...
But the sad part is its onbly for PS2 so it will be sub-par with graphics and controls...
Aren't we done w/ war FPS games yet?

i hope its not a port, think of the horror of a PS2 game stright ported to a PC, maybe PC to PS2 to PC but never PS2 to PC.

I dont think they would port over a PS2 game for PC, it just wouldnt go well. I think that they are making a modern combat similar to desert combat on either a new engine or another upgrade to the original engine.
And in the year and a half since the original came out they released two expansions and bf vietnam so I dont think that its too unlikely that they might release this so called "battlefield 2" in a year and a half.

This isnt battlefield 2 more like BF: modern day or something. Hopefully Trauma will stay true to their word and keep it a free download ala CS.

Nobody thought that Ion Storm would shaft the PC gaming populace by porting over a sub-par followup to Deus Ex either, but they went ahead and made a game for the limited crappy hardware of the Xbox and then ported it to the PC where it sucked. They are doing it again with the third Thief game. Why would it be hard to believe that someone else would ruin a game by creating it for inferior hardware and then porting to the pc? Not saying that it is happening, just that I could easily believe it if they said they were.

Not a straight port... they reworked alot of it and change a bunch of stuff. Basically PS@ ver. was a beta for the PC version, and they removed stuff that annoyed people and made the aiming good.

Nope I think your all wrong.. can you say...
Battlefield Vietnam EXANSION PACK!
Duh.. I mean come on guys.. look how they released BF:42 and its expansions..
It wouldn't be hard to take what would be a mod and make it into an expansion pack ..
Just my thoughts...

I think PhreakinSyco is onto something...that would make a lot of sense.

Can you Command & Conquer: Generals? Just change the Middle East Coalition to Global Liberation Army (both from the middle east though) and you have a FPS with the armies of Generals.

I hope you arent serious. Anyone whose experienced with computers will know that the PS2s hardware is laughable next to the Xbox's. The reason for poor performance with Dues Ex on the PC was because it was a port. Since it was designed for ancient hardware (aka PS2), when it was ported to the PC it turned out poorly.
Edit: This is also appearent in Metal Gear Solid: Zero Substance that was ported to the Xbox from PS2.
I would also have to address the poor performace of NFS:U on the PS2. I dont think that game goes about 28FPS. On avg it'll do 18FPS. I can get those frames with my old GeForce4 MX420 with a 1.1Celeron on my old computer.

IGN says it's the PC version, but it looks pretty ****ty for a PC game, even in alpha. They've got a lot of texture work done for such low polygon models for me to believe it's not a console game. It looks like Star Wars: Battlefront, but marginally less crappy. Eh, it was going to suck anyway.

damn! i can't wait that long! DC simply rocks! they have fog hacks going around. i always crash when i fly to high 'cause i lose my orientation. they should at least put working flight console gauges in the cockpits.

BF:MC an BF2 are supposed to be 2 different games.
This don't look like no PS2 port to me.
http://image.com.com/gamespot/images/2004/news/04/22/battlefield2/battlefield2_screen002.jpg
Judging from this (http://www.gamespot.com/pc/action/battlefield2/news_6093907.html), BF2 doesn't sound like anything the PS2 is even remotely capable of doing.
Quoted from gamespot.com:
Battlefield 2 will be a different product from Battlefield: Modern Combat, the PlayStation 2 title announced last week.
2 different games. BF2 will not be an expansion like BFV was. It looks like a completely new game, w/ a new engine, new - original features, etc. Looks promising. :D
make me think of BLACK HAWK DOWN type of snenerios are possible.
Now imagine that !!!!
talk about awsome expecialy with 100+ players and those graphics!!!
woohoo!!

That is sweet... finally shoting out of vehicles.
I was thinking black hawk down too....
And with real world physics.....using C4 to blow crates in the air, pushing car wrecks to make barricades.....drools.....hope its similar to havoc physics engine.
Hopefully they give us some new hardware to play with as well like FN P90's, choice between being a delta or a ranger or something like that.....add 64+ player support and i think im about to fall off my chair.
Lots of maps as well please. :)

I personally would like to be able to "configure" your "kit"... change weapons and stuff around, make it more rainbow six'ish and have realistic fall and splash damage, ie no running down stairs and geting hurt and no sniping people with an rpg in a room and not dieing... also the jumping should be more UTish... its too slow....

For a 100+ player server the net code better be good or it will be lag city.
Totally amazing looking game right now but if it comes out in a few years the video will proably be bumped up even more; when will we ever get sick of Battlefield type games lol, never I hope. Hopefully we'll see some more of this out of E3 :D
