If I want to successfully overclock a pentium 3 1ghz over 1125 what would be a good default running temperature (at 1ghz)??? Also what idle temps should i shoot for dring overclocking? Under a load? -Billy

usually around 30-39 Idle, 40-49 Full Load are good guidelines, but anything less than that is better

Well the p3 1g tops out at 60C before you will make toast with this knowledge you will want to keep your CPU below 40C at full load or you may get lock ups, not only that you want to leave room for errors in your temp readings. This will not be that much of a challenge as these chips run pretty cool, when i first got mine it ran a little hotter then where i'm at know [30 to33C full load]but with a average HSF and a few case fans with thermal compound like radioshack or AS-2 instead of the sticky pad you should not have any problems staying under 40C.

since every CPU will overclock differently they will also be affected by heat differently, with mine being at 1285 if it gets over 33C i can exspect lock ups but i'm pushing this one hard, if your CPU is maxed out at 1125 then the same could apply to you but this will depend on the amount of CV you will need to keep it stable at that speed. If its not maxed out it may not lock up until your in the 40C or above range.

Ditto the prior posts...

Mine runs at 30-34C idle and 40-44C under full load, depending how well my air conditioning is working/humidity...

at the higher end of that 44C load temp, I noticed Iexplorer and Photoshop were GPF'ing/crashing on me, so heat is most definitely the enemy.

I have a P3750@1gig and under a full load it is usually between 33-36 celcius. My basic rule is 40-45 I get concerned 45 and up I do something to lower the heat.
