what happens if you put two differnt speeds of memory together?

This was just a random thought i had and none of my friends could tell me, so i thought maybe you guys could. Thanks!
 
It'll work provided the speed is set to the lowest sticks settings, or that the lower stick will OC. Prtetty much all ram is backwards compatible with previous generations. IE pc 2700 (ddr333) will work fine as pc 2100 (ddr 266).
