hi all,

i have been looking around the forums for a while and have decided to go down the WC route due to the noise my pc makes.

i am planning on making up my own kit rather than getting a ready made " all in a box" type kit, as such i have a few questions.

1. all of the aquarium pumps i have seen have the water inlet at the bottom - ie are submersible pumps these would only work if the pump was sitting in water so what type of pumps do u use?

2. what flow rate should i look for, most i have seen are 600L/h, is this enough?

3. can you reccomend a decent cpu block pls - not looking for something fancy.

i think thats about it for now.

thanks in advance

rob.

Good choice going picking parts rather than Kits.

1. You can use inline if you don't want to submerse it.

2. Depends on the setup you want, I'll let more knowledgeble people get on that.

3. Dtek Spiral Tec-4 are cheap and performs ok.

As far as flow most people look for pumps around 300GPH (gallons per hour). As far as pumps go I think you would prob be best going with a Danner Mag 3, they are also sold under the name Pondmaster and can be found at MarineDepot.com and your local pet shop.

The blocks with 3 barbs are pretty simple, the water comes in the center barb and the other 2 barbs are water outlets.
