Hey Yall,
Has anyone has experience with the soyo SY 7VDA and the PIII's in overclocking? I tried to do some overclocking on the board and ended up having to discharge the cmos to get the comp back to working? Any help would be appreciated?

Hi SeanWolff98, wellcome to the Forum,
What about your System temps, and cooling section?

As far as the stock system temp the computer runs about 47.2 celsius and is using a cooling fan on the chipset and processor. I havent attempted overclocking the board as of yet for I am unfamiliar with DDR settings related to the pIII processor.

Your Cpu temps seems to be higher especially if not OCed (I hope is referred to Full load!)
Try MotherBoardMonitor to check your temps (is a must), and check if there's a thin layer of thermal paste between the Cpu & the Cooler.
About the setting for your Mobo, well I'm not experienced on it, Post the question into the Intel Mobo section.

I hope it helps you :-)

Now I'm trying to download your Mobo manual to help you, but seems to be easy coz jumperless, all settings trought Bios.

Ready :-)
You must enter into the Bios at start up, into the section called 'Soyo Combo Setup' and then rise in step the Cpu clock on the desidered frequency (the Fsb), if not stable rise also a little the Cpu Vcore Select.

Note: first of all check your temps (47C it's high and dangerous!), never must go over 40-45 degree C @full load, so think to replace your stock cooler!

I hope it helps you ;-)

I checked the temp after running Baldurs gate II throne of bhaal. A fairly load intensive program. I think yall are right a new fan would make a difference. Then I can play with the overclocking abilities of the board..

Great response so far.
Are there any DDR tweaks?

You're wellcome SeanWolff98,
About the DDR settings, it's better if you post a Topic into the Intel Mobo section coz I'm not very experienced with this new Kind of Mobo that seems to be really interesting for the larger Bandwidth, but I'll take a look to the rest of the user's manual trying to help you :-)

Hey I managed to get the temp down to 32 c with a vornado fan set next to the open case side of my comp. So far so good :).
