I have a Asus P3b-f and need to get a processor. I can get a PIII 800/133 cheap but I need to know if will work ok. I want to OC this thing until it screams (or I do).

So should I use the 800/133 or the 750/100?

Thanks

Hi Digga, wellcome to the Forum,
I'm not sure if it supports a chip 133Mhz of Fsb, probably yes but on the Asus web site the answer is Not, coz it goes over the i440Bx spec.
Otherwise is better to choose a P/// 800E (Multiplier 8x & Fsb 100Mhz) or a P/// 750E (7.5x100Mhz) coz gives more room to OC it!
Chek the Cpu database on the home page for the OC chance of this chip.

I hope it helps you :-)

Thanks:

I will stick with the 750/100. How high do you think I can go?

Can you recommend the best video card to handle the oc? Money is a priority.

Can you also recommend best cooling solution without going to water or peltier?

Thanks again:

Say, do own a Ferrari? ;)

About the P/// 750E well, I think that it can easly works at 133Mhz of Fsb, obtaining 1Ghz! or more, but all depends by the chip that you'll take. For more info take a look to the Cpu database on the home page!
About the cooling section there are a lot of way, one of the best seems to be the Thermalright SK6, made of pure copper but take a look to the Cooling section of the Forum for more info, coz I've an Alpha Pep66 and a GlobalWin Fop38.
I suggest you also to install 2 fans into the case, preferribly 120mm, one for the intake front/bottom, and the other for exausth upper/back.
For the Vid card any kind of GForce Mx400 with 32 or 64Mb of ram is a good way for me, but more depends by your budget and if you are a Great gamer's.
About my avatar, well I'm a great Ferrari's fan, nothing else, at the moment ;-)

I hope it helps you ;-)
