That's officially got my vote as the coolest case mod to date. i'm kinda into cars, so I'm a wee bit biased.

I still can't figure out how he managed to get the sound card to lay sideways.

i would have HATED to pay for all the things he had to do to that. it is an AWESOME mod, but not doable now with ATX boards (unless you get bigger models)...
that guy should get a medal for that achievement
WOW, that's the coolest thing I've ever seen! It must have taken forever to make!

Hi Guys..
I have the somewhat dubious honour of being the crazyman who built the GTRPC. Contrary to what you suggest, this is an ATX board: Abit KT7A-RAID, all crammed into a 1/8th scale car.
There are additional details as to what's in it on the original post here:
Original HardForum post (http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=187889)
The soundcard is mounted with a PCI riser card, to keep it out of the way of the bonnet. And you're right, it was a bloody expensive thing to put together.
For the supercurious among you, I'm putting up a website with the details of how it was built. Stay tuned.
BlueSmurf.
One of the most impressive details (I think) was that (those?) revired KB connector. I think there were several revires...

Nice. We get to see a cool computer and get a new member who appears to know a few things.
I am interested in where you got a single card riser.

That is one fine casemod BlueSmurf - with case modding so commonplace it's unusual to see some real originality nowadays, but that's original if ever I saw it :D

I bought my riser card here:
Adex Electronics (http://www.adexelec.com/)
Great customer service I must say. There are literally dozens of combinations of lengths, orientations, voltages etc. So make sure you know exactly what you're doing with the riser.
Thanks for all the comments on the case guys. It's nice to have ones handiwork admired. I've been a reader of Overclockers for a very long time now, quoted on the frontpage (anonymous info) before. So I was proud when news of my case showed up in the forums. :)

Been done I'm afraid. At one of the last CPL events I think.
A novel idea, but at the end of the day, still a square box with a PC in it.

Maybe put the components inside the TV shell, remove the tube and replace the glass with lexan/plexi. heh could be fun :p

Bin done already, too, CeBit Hannover 1998, I think... a bunch of hungarian data rescuers...
But I wonder what I can do with that old aquarium - my sister and the guppies surely wouldn't notice my Chaintech 7AJA-2 between the sunken miniature galleon, pebbles and seaweed, would they? :D
(no need for fishy screensavers anymore, hehe - and just think about the water cooling FX...)
Honestly, I think that Smurf and his Nissan have deserved a whole page, if not even a small chapter in case modder's history.
Phew.

I agree, that is some serious modding.
Once again good job Smurf!

How about a real Book PC?
You see all those book computers that are just super tiny, but what about hollowing out a big ol' dictionary and putting a computer in there? I know I have a big dictionary that could fit MicroATX or FlexATX boards, and it would take some cramming, but I bet it could be done. Then you could set the dictionary on your bookshelf, hook up your monitor to the book, and go to work. That might be pretty cool....BlueSmurf, go to work man!

thats incredible.
I know a company that produces probably the tiniest book computers I have ever seen. Maybe it can be taken apart and inserted into an actual book? Some pages can be cut out for increased airfolw.
