Whats the outlook in the next 4 months?

What is the outlook in the next 4 months (I'm going to be saving up parts for my new computer in this time) for CD-RW/DVD-ROM/DVD-Burners?

Are there going to be any major read/write speed increases, or cost decreases, considering if there will be I shall save my money a little longer :)

i read in a mag about a month ago regarding 12x dvd\rw. not sure when. try google.
