i just got two matched sticks of 256 hyper x pc4000.
the benchmarks are way slower than my old single 256 stick of pc 2100

is this rma bound or am i missing something????

it will not oc at all, no matter the voltage.
stock in the bios its running at 280mhz and this is 500mhz ram what is up with this

could my settings be off or could the ram be bad??

thanks

Just because it is rated faster, doesnt mean it will run that fast on its own. You would need to OC your processor to 250FSB to use the full potenetial of that ram. Or if your board has 4:5 dividers, then you could get a little more performance, but nothing near its rated speed.

but it will not let me overclock it at all zip nada
old slow ram = [email protected]
new fast ram= [email protected] max
changed the voltage and dividers no luck
so if it wont let me play with the fsb to get i closer to its rated speed then is it busted???

this ram is going into my new system but i wanted to check it out first. could my low fsb be the problem?
thanks for the help

so how can i test it
i have 400mhz fsb now but the new puter will be 800.(so it should work better in the 800 right)
my friend has a 2.6 800fsb, would this be a better test bed?
if not how can i test it before my 15 days of rma are up?

thanks for the help

Right... PC4k operates @ 250mhz NOT 200mhz (aka 200 ---> 800)

With a 250mhz bus that should be like 1,500mhz (Intel quad-pumped)
