i was messing around trying to share my internet connection today. ICS wasnt working, it said something was messed up in its dependencies (not in those exact words) so i installed a few extra windows components. now ipconfig looks like this:

Windows IP Configuration

Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection:

Connection-specific DNS Suffix . : magma.ca
IP Address. . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.102
Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.1

Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection 2:

Media State . . . . . . . . . . . : Media disconnected

Tunnel adapter Teredo Tunneling Pseudo-Interface:

Connection-specific DNS Suffix . :
IP Address. . . . . . . . . . . . : 3ffe:831f:4004:1954:0:fbf6:bfe5:6cef

IP Address. . . . . . . . . . . . : fe80::5445:5245:444f%4
Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : ::

Tunnel adapter Automatic Tunneling Pseudo-Interface:

Connection-specific DNS Suffix . : magma.ca
IP Address. . . . . . . . . . . . : fe80::5efe:192.168.1.102%2
Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . :

what is all the tunneling stuff and do i really want it there? how do i get rid of it. someone i was talking to thought it was part of tcp/ip v6 but i de-checked that in my settings and still get this.

i did get ICS to aparently run on my computer. i dont know if its working properly as the computers dont seem to be getting along

try typing in the command prompt this: Ipconfig /Release
wait for about 20sec then type: Ipconfig /Renew
see if that changes nething

Try uninstalling the Advanced Networking Pack.

the extra confusing rubbish at the bottom is IPv6, it was installable as a patch but it was also bundled into either SP1a or one of the other update bundles. I wouldn't worry about it, it will only become active if you connect to an IPv6 enabled network

I think that the tunneling stuff has to do with VPN. Even if my guess is wrong, I do know that it is not hurting anything.

Actually, the setup there looks like it should share your connection with the other machine. I assume that this machine does not connect directly to the internet.

If you want a better understanding of Teredo check this link:

should share the connection is right....
i've got exams/work going on right now so i havent been able to devote much time to actually making them share the connection. using my bottlenecking router for now

turd: great link. thank you
