Hi all, i just want to say thanks for looking at this thread to begin with. Im having a bit of a problem. I needed to clean off my slk900a, so i took out my mobo, cleaned it, and put it all back in my case. Well, to my suprise, when i went into my bios, (after clearing cmos) i couldnt get it to save at my regular settings. I tryed to back down, but yet i still got the 2 tone siren. I have an abit nf7-s with a mobil amd 2500+, 2 sticks of mushkin pc3500 level 1 ram--settings 11 3 2 2, ati radeon 9800pro. i can get stable at like 145fsb x9, but i cant get 150fsb x9, and this is x9!!. I used to do 200x12 perfectly fine. Whats going on? thanks.
problem : 2 tone siren at 150fsb x 9
solution: ??
I'm gonna try the easy stuff first :)
Try clearing the CMOS. Make sure the heatsink is positioned correctly and the chip isnt damaged. What are your temps like? Tried relaxing RAM timings as far as possible?

hi, thanks a ton for replying bro.
1. yes i cleared cmos
2. pretty sure heatsink is on right
3. its possible the chip is damaged, but unlikely in my opinion
4. temps are under 40c
5. ive had timings at under stock, like 5, 3, 3, 2 i believe.
Ok, so it was running at 200x12.
Try increasing voltage a touch?
Can you increase multi any further? Ie is it just the FSB that wont increase or is it the overall CPU speed?

Yes, try increasing the multi to like 145x16. If that works, then theres some wierd crap with your motherboard. If not, then try like 200*6. If that works, then your hsf might not be on right or something else might be messed up.

ok im going to try that right now, if it does go 200x6, you said that my hsf mihg tnot be right, or something else might be messed up, what would that something else be?
in your guy's opinion what do you think it is, mobo or cpu? or something else.

1) You shouldn't flash the BIOS under windows. DOS is always best.
2) Get the version 20 BIOS from Abit here (http://www.abit-usa.com/downloads/bios/bios_revision.php?categories=1&model=124).

so do you guys think i should buy a new mobo or a new cpu?
If you have more than one stick of ram installed, try removing one stick. If that doesn't work, try the other stick.

ive already tryed that, and in different slots, but thanks.

Have you tried taking everything apart, leaving it overnight, and then putting it back together? It's worth a shot. And while it's all apart you can inspect everything for damage.

ive inspected everything for dmg, but whats the point of letting it sit overnight? my 30day rma is almost up from newegg on my mobo.
