I'm considering moving my main computer out from my basement and up to the second floor in my room. I measured the distance from my cable modem/router downstairs, and it would be at most 70 feet, so I'd buy some generic 100 foot Cat 5e cable from NewEgg.

What I'm wondering is if 100 feet of cable would cause any problems due to its length.

That will not be a problem at all.

My brain is asleep right now, and I can't remember if its 300' or 300m.

Either way you are far bellow either, so no problem.

Cat5e will go 100m or 300', before signal degredation can become a problem. With a good set of cables and little interference networks can go upto 150m without needing a repeater so I wouldn't worry about 70':D
