hey guys i havent been to the board in ages and was formerly known as xxpentium. ok heres the deal.....right now i have an abit be6 II mobo with a pentium2 350@558......but i need more. i want to get about a gig outa the chip i buy. i have heard good reports on the p3 700, would this be the chip to try and if so.......does anyone know where they are goin for cheap right now. i just want to get a gig for the lowest price possible. my computer is runnin at 159 fsb right now so im hopin i can get it up there. oh and how do i make sure that the chip is cCo stepping? thnx in advance

Cheapest chip for a gig would be a Celeron.

Maybe a 600 or 633, or an 800.

the PIIIs 700s are nice, and i dont think there is a way to make sure you get a Cc0 stepping

www.pricewatch.com should still have some P3 700 chips for sale.

Try to contact the seller and see if they can guarantee cC0 stepping, cB0 may not make it to 1 GHZ.

The celeron 800 is making 1 GHZ pretty often, that would be the cheaper option.
