I have an K6-2 CXT 350 Mhz on Gigabyte GA-5AX Rev 3.0 motherboard. I bought FOP38 and i have already place over it and it's too much cool :) I raise it at 400 Mhz but I cannot overclock the CPU more because after that speed, the system freeze at BIOS startup. Can someone tell me which is the high end speed for this CPU and if it isn't 400 mhz (i hear about 422 is average overclocking) i must raise voltage and how much?
What voltage is the maximum for that CPU? My motherboard has speed limit at 550.
Thank you.

Welcome to Overclockers.com panagiotis! You have found a great place of knowledge and friendship.

450 to 500 is about the limit for that chip. Raising the voltage will help you out a lot. If you have good thermal goop I would not be scared to go up to 2.7v. Only try .1 volts more at a time and see how high you can get the processor stable.

Your on the right track and I agree with Bender. I've gone to 2.7v on a K6 as well. Make sure it's not a "+" series chip, their default Vcore is only 2.0v I wouldn't go much above 2.5 with one of these.

Currently there is a thread dealing with this very subject going on in these forums.

I make it :D wooooohoooooooooo
K6-2/350 works now at 450 Mhz stable as it was at 350 and 400 :) I raize the voltage starting from 2.3V but there it didn't start. At 2.4V CPU didn't seems to work ok because when windows start i show only the half image logo :) the rest was blank!! and it freeze. When i get 2.5V windows allways crashing (dll problems etc) and now it's working at 2.6V.
FOP38 HSF is cold (it is for athlon) and tommorow i will push CPU at 500 (and stop at 2.7V because i hear that 2.8 is too must dangerous for K6-2) looking also and how it works at 475 Mhz (5X95)
Thank you all :) and i will keep you informed :D

kalosirthes sta forums panagioti! :) it is good not to raise the core voltage above 2.7 with the k-6 as that would be too dangerous for the chip. I wish you good luck with your overclock and keep us informed.

welcome to the forms...... AMD cpus are crappy overlockers K6-2 and + anrt that good ....u said u got 450mhz outa that chip tahts awsome dont push it anymore it wont handle it.... eailer AMD CPUS were built more to there limit then Intel cpus u going to get massive heat problems and the cache wont be able to handle it ....maby its time to get a new comp i recomend a 750duron or lower if u can find....just get a board mod and get over 1ghz for like 30$CDN hehe
