View Full Version : Annoying High pitched sound
There is a annoying High Pitched sound coming out of one of my speakers. I have narrowed the problem down (through plugging and unplugging everything many times) to a port on my subwoofer. When I even turn the volume up to medium I get this annoying high pitched noise that drives me nuts. It is this one specific port no matter which speaker I plug in the noise comes out of it and I don't know how to fix it, is it possible I could clean it or something.
They are Creative 5.1 5200 speakers/sub
any help would be great.

Im not familiar with your specific speaker system so I can tell you exactly how or where but inside the subwoofer is the crossover circuit board.
One of the wires has probably come loose. To fix it you will have to open up the subwoofer and resolder the bad connection.
The problem is,my experience with pc speaker systems is,they were not designed to be easily worked on by the consumer.
For instance,I had to resolder a wire inside my altec lansing sub
but the wire was unreachable because the design of the sub offered no way to access the speaker itself. The cabinet was glued together in such a way that i could only get to the crossover board and not to the wires on the speaker end of it.
In your case you should not have to touch the speaker end of the connection,so if you unscrew the plate in the back or the bottom, wherever it happens to be,you can pull out the circuit board and see where the bad connection is and fix it.
If you dont see any bad connections your outta luck fixin it.
You would be better off buying a new system or returning it if possible.

I had the same problem on many different speaker systems, three no name systems to be exact, and it all seemed to be linked to my overclock somehow. Basically no oc, no whine, oc whine. Try turning down your speakers, it seemed to eliminate it for me

Does it happen when the speakers arn't plugged into the computer as well? It could be somthing with your soundcard, or if your wires are near power cords or monitor cords it could cause some weird noises.

I dunno the problem seemed to have fixed itself. I unplugged everything from that particular speaker port and in the morning it didn't do it any more *shrug*
