I have 5/8" ID tubing that I slipped over the 5/8" brass barbs on my waterblock. The connection keeps leaking even with hose clamps on... any suggestions?

When I was too lazy to make it work right I put marine goop on, You need to make sure it's dry and water isn't constantly pushing out though (this will just make it bubble up under the glue and eventually burst). Unfortunatly this is perminant though...

I was thinking Goop or Silicon, but I really didn't want it to be permanent. As intriging as the spanish chrome sounds, I think I'll pass on the duct tape.

A little confused by your response Contra, are us telling me to use spring clips instead of worm clamps??? or the other way around.

2 good solutions to this:
1. Buy 3/4" hose barbs and stretch the 5/8" tubing over them, then clamp, preferably with spring clamps.

2. Buy 1/2" tubing and keep the 5/8" barbs. Again, clamp.

NeoMoses,

Yep, you guessed exactly what I did. Earlier today i went out and bought some 1/2" ID tubing with 1/8" walls. The only thing I had to change was the 3/4" fittings on my pump. I'm trying to find some spring clamps, but my local Lowes and Depot changed around their fittings section and now I can't find them. I'm gonna head down to the local plumbing supply shop and grab some. I decided to step down the tubing size rather than step up, believing that the 5/8" was a little overkill and I would rather have a bit more velocity for the wb.

Thanks for the replies! :p

Awww not smaller hoses. You cheater. Hehe jk with you. You know you could have tried the some teflon wraping around it. As stupid as this may sound, they make a plumbers teflon tape. It might have given you that little distance to make a good seal. Well long as it all works and you are happy, that is all that matters.

The main reason for choosing downsize over upsize is that the barbs on my waterblock are pretty much permanent. It is a LOT easier for me to change the barbs on my pump than it is to change the barbs on my block. All and All I'll still have a TRUE 1/2" ID system, the only bottleneck being the waterblock, where it should be.;)

Cheers!:D
