I have been using Intel for the last few years. The last AMD I had was a K6-2 400. I curently have a PIII 700 @ 1008 and a GeForce 2 Ultra @ 500. I'm going to upgrade soon and need some advice on an AMD, since I've been out of the "AMD picture" for awhile.
Why does the T-Bird have both 200 and 266 FSB?
Does one overclock better?
Here is what I'm thinking of building:
ABIT KG7 Raid, T-Bird 1.4, Elsa GeForce 3 and 256 MG Mushkin High Performance DDR.
Intel is just getting behind in the game anymore, so I guess I'll go back to AMD !!!
Thanks for the help and advice. Kent :)

Ok. I got a little ahead of myself. I just read that the 200 FSB supports PC1600 and the 266 FSB supports PC2100, but does one overclock better?

the 266 would overclock better because of the higher quality core

I don't know that that is the case. The 200 and 266 cores are the same with the choice provided to give support for the "older" motherboards with the KT133 chipset. (remember that almost all of the socket A motherboards are less than a year old). From what I've read, there isn't much difference in the results of overall overclocking results regardless of the default FSB within the same code, ie AXIA "B" vs AXIA "C".

As far as the difference between PC1600 and PC2100 DDR RAM, the easiest analogy would be the differences between PC100 and PC133. For example, although the PC1600 is rated for a 100MHz FSB, a good stick could run at a higher FSB such as 133.

I would have to disagree, you show mw one 266mhz FSB 1 gigger that does better than mine and I will but that ocean front property in Kansas. The FSB has NOTHING to do with quality, but with what M/B-chipset it will support. I have plenty of benchmarks to prove this point. nuff said.
