I want to replace the cheapo slow 80mm fans that I have in my case right now I have one in the bottom front cover and the other on the back of the case by the cpu. (the usual setup)
What would you fine folks recommend? The puter is in the living room so I can't get anything like a 747 turbine :) however whisper quiet is not necessary either!
thanks

If you have a Dremel handy, I would say skip 80s altogether and do a little modification to put 92s in. Sanyo Denki 92x32s, 55 CFM. 36.5 dB each. I've been comparing them to all the 80s I could find on 2CoolTek, and I really don't think any 80 can come close to competing with them, as far as volume of air vs. noise level and such.
If you absolutely HAVE to go with 80s, I'd say the H.O. Sunon.. (not the Super High Output, tho) it's a similar noise level to these 92s.. but not quite the airflow.
I have been thinking of picking up a dremel :D your suggestion might not be such a bad idea.. Heck it's only a case heheheh

I really should stop talking about it and get off my dead butt and take some pics of how my case looks with the 92s in. I think you'd like how they came out, and you'll find that this setup is quite efficient. :D
I'd like to see those mods

Well, I like Papst fans ... Maybe not the biggest CFM, but very quiet
I agree with Would71...go with a 92mm front case fan (I did the same thing). If you have to use a 80mm, I have a Sunon high output on my CPU heatsink and love it. I've had nothing but good luck with Sunon fans. They really last and are high quality.

I agree 100% in regards to the Sanyo Denk fans, hey are awesome pushers, without much noise.

An Alternative to a dremal for making fan holes is getting a drill with hole drilling bits and use that!!!

Woohoo! Demolition work on the back of my house FINALLY begins tomorrow morning. That means soon I'll have a dedicated computer room with a bit better cooling for the whole room. Lower ambient temps, and no more having to sleep near my primary PC while it Folds all night. :D
One thing.. "dog and pony show"..? o.O
heheheh "dog and pony show" was a phrase an old fire chief I worked for used to describe a demonstration of something really cool :)
I just ordered some nifty yellow rounded cables, next come some fans and out will come the dremel.. gotta cool this puppy off. It's usually not a problem here in Alaska but recently its been quite "muggy" :D
