Hi I am new to overclocking and just bought a Barton 3000+ and put it in my A7N8X Deluxe. I was reading on these forums that AMD proc were locked and no longer able to be OCed by changing the multiplier. I decied to go into my bios and look and sure enough It let me overclock it to 3200+ at 2.21ghz I can go higher im guessing but am going to get a new heatsink before I do anything else as I dont want to fry it. It is running at 45c idle. So did I just get lucky?

I changed the multiplier

*edit* I just checked to make sure I was right and it was the multiplier, I just changed ti again to 11.5 and it is now running at 2.31ghz

Codes on the core say when it was manufactured.
(0334 stands for 2003 week 34 for example.)

You assume it's a 2004 CPU but it may not be, post the codes.

ah well that would make sense, I will take look tomrrow and post the codes.

I also have a 3000XP, unlocked. It was a 0319, so they have been around for quite a while. Can't remember what stepping it is though.
