If money was no object what would you choose, from the case to the cpu cooler which products would be your first choice?

Well let me see, I just walked away from the local lottery office and straight to my local vendor and I say I want your (no name) aluminum case, 650watt enermax P/S, 512 cas-2 Tonicom RAM, MSI Turbo M/B, 1 gigger AVIA or AXIA-y CPU (must be 200mhz FSB), the new Velo 24speed CDRW, Pioneer DVD-RAM, 60 gig WD 7200rpm H/D, Hercules gamer soundcard, geForce-3 or 4-256mb or whatever they have current, solid gold heatsink with triple delta's, a seperate A/C'd room for my intensely overclocked machine, a 70 inch liquid plasma Mitsibishi screen x 4, Bose 901's screaming Moby or whatever suits my fancy at the time, Demi Moore shaving her head while she ********** to me and overclocking my machine and*********** and more ***************. anything else is just gravy!!

*edit*
wait, I have most of this, off I go the the local 7-11 to buy a lottery ticket for the rest!!

hmmm..well with whats out now? id say a Koolance Aluminum case, with a Tyan dual board both housing a 1.2tbird MP, non oced'for stability i mean isint 2400mhz enough. 512 megs of Mushkin DDR2400, 24x16x40 CDR, Kenwood 72x cdrom, Geforce 3 Ultra coming out. not sure bout sound card, maybe the SoundBlaster Xgamer or the MP3, dolby 5.1 surround-optical mouse or a boomslang.6050 watt Enermax PS, 24inch flast CRT monitor-or a TV out to a Phillips Flastscreen Wega. Aircooled with some YS tech quiet fans. and a PHAT case mod-:D for a HD id have 4 Maxtor 60 gigs 7200 rpm-in RAID 0 that be 120gigs on 1 channel and 120 gigs on another channel-witha 15k 18gig SCSI for by BOOT drive with 2000pro, WInXP, LInux Mandrake 8, and id get an OC3 line setn right to my house( thats like 18 gigs a second bandwidth-only slower to OC192 from CISCO that is 1064gigs a second

But if software is banned. then well at the moment IŽd chose:

Gigabyte GA-7DXR with 1,4 Ghz T-bird
3x256 Kingston ECC certified memory
10k rpm SCSI disk. RAID configured
Elsa Gladiac 920

and 500 gallons of liquid nitrogen.

I would purchase a 512 IBM server. A couple terrabytes of Static Ram (I'd have it configured somehow), About 15 terrabytes of storage.

Then i would have a another computer attached via fiberoptic or whatever is fastest connection. That computer would be:

-1.53 ghz palmino o/c'd
-Asus m/b or IWill, whatever is better with palmino
-21" LCD display (who needs anything bigger than that)
-256 or 512 MB ddr video card - one of the proffesional ones that cost about $1,500
-400 watt powersupply
-watercooled
-24x CD-RW
-Pioneer super drive

-Is it possible to use static Ram? Thats much faster... but everywhere i look its always for PDA's or its bios flash ram.

I would dream of a system which would have the following :

- a couple of Athlons 1.6 GHz (I know it doesn't exist, but you can always dream !)
- some memory designed especially for me !!! (about 1-2 terrabyes !) ALWAYS DDR, or whatever will be faster in the future
- GeForce whatever that is expensive and fast and good !!!
- DVD-RAM, DVD-ROM, CD-RW (scsi)
- about 10 to 20*60GB Raid hard drives !!! ($$$)
- a 36 inch LCD monitor with a TV, VCR out
- a Nitrogen cooling system !
- an internal DSL, cable, or whatever FAST I could use for connecting to internet !
- my own ISP for my house, where I would be the only one, so no connection sharing !

Plus I would like a laptop (super powerful one, with some of the caracteristics up there !)

(I didn't say names, cuz I don'T know them !)

Plus a couple of other stuffies !:D :D :D

4 or 8 Xeons with a few gigs of memory

Win2K server (whatever permutation needed for the extra cpu's)

a dual raid config: stripe w/parity for os/swap/frequent apps and mirror for data/webserver/ftp fault tolerance and fast reads. Of course scsi with big fat 15,000 rpm drives

GeForce3 with whatever the fastest, most loaded version is!?!

an 8 port usb hub built into the front

firewire built into the front

the digital movie camera for dv stuff

DVD burner

cdrw (what speeds are they up to now?)

50x cd rom

some kind of wacked sound card with 5.1 sound, etc. and the few thousand $$$$ worth of 500 watt speakers/amps.

Dual displays: big plasma for movies and a 21" for computing

And a SubZero refrigerator as the case with the optical drives and cable connections routed to the front and back.

Did I miss anything?

Hey: I know this is the AMD forum, but you said ANYTHING!

If I won lotto I would probally buy the new 1.53Ghz palamino chipset in choice of stepping if they have or make , AXIA - Y or AYHJA - Y , AYHJAR - Y. Then I would ask for the Abit KG7 - Raid or the ASUS A7M266 and I would get 2 sticks of 512mbs of Micron memorey and , a 72x cd rom , CDRW 24x,Geforce 3 Asus or visiontek , Dual Scsi 37gb hard drives 15,000 rpms ,I-Glasses (can see 80inches of game play or whatever in the glasses). One more thing hehe Liquid nitrogen case made by asetek. =)

Fah! If I could have anything.... Does it have to exist at the present? Who cares? I'll say what I want!

I'd want a Sledgehammer 2.0 GHz, 1GB of Crucial PC2400 DDR, Herculese 3d ProphetIII GeForce3 64MB DDR Ultra, OC-3 internet connection, wireless LAN with a 10Km radius so my friends could share my connection, a Solid silver waterblock, really nice pump, a Lian Li PC70 Case, with silent 2 Silent 120mm intake, 1 92mm and 1 120mm Exhaust for a slight overpressure, an Enermax 600w psu, Epox 8k7a+, 2 40GB 12,500 RPM HDD's in RAID0 setup.

Well that sounds like about it...

Well, ask a silly question, get a silly answer I suppose :o)

Interesting choices, although I was just trying to find out what you guys think a great system has in it.

I want to build a stonking system, the dogs bits....suggestions?

Money no object? hmmmmmmmmm i'd wait a couple months but a 1.5 palomino, an n-Force chipset mobo, fill it with the best RAM i can find, graphics would have to be a GF3 ULTRA (they should be out in a couple months) use the n-FORCE on board sound, a RAID set up, who is it makes those 15k RPM scsi drives? i'd use them for HD's A projector and screen, liquid niitrogen cooling for CPU GPU chipset and maybe even ram if its possible case would be one of those server cube jobs, PSU a 550 watt enermax. i'd use my existing keyboard and mouse, but buy myseld a pair of 500 watt amplifiers and 4 500 watt speakers. and anything in it that can be overclocked, will be overclocked
