i have added a thermaltake hardcano 12 to my system, and i have 4 thermal probes, i put one under my cpu which works great, ive got one in my PSU, good to go, and i have 2 questions regarding the otehr 2, where is the best place to put one on a 9800 pro? i have it on the heatsink... and it reports it being around 100f (35c) and... lol taht isnt correct, i know these gpu's get hot.

and also my chipset is saying around 30-33c, cause i have it on the same spot. is there a better place to mount it on the chipset?

On my 9600 Pro, I slid the sensor under the side of the HS, so it touched the side of the GPU core, but my 9600 had a small HS on it, where as the 9800 has a larger HS. If you can slide it under the side of the HS, without moving the HS, I think that would be the best placement. Same with the NB. They also say you can tape it to the beck of the card, right behind the GPU. That would work also, but not as accurate.

The closer you can get to the core itself the more accurate it will be. Remember the heatsinks job is to disperse the heat (obviously) so if you can get it close to the part of the heatsink that is touching the core you should be able to get it before to much of the heat is gone although its still not going to be entierly accurate as there is never a perfect transfer of heat from the core to the heatsink so expect the core to be a little hotter.
