I am debating getting a AIW vs non AIW9800 pro. I have a HDTV and would like to play games on it and watch DVDs in 1080i. I know the AIW will come with everything I need to except componet cables to connect it to my TV. But if I buy a non AIW can I just find a DVI cable and run that straight from the card to the TV? what would be the better card to get?

the AIW comes with everything to hook it up to a tv,vcr, home stereo, camcorder and much more. you may want a longer s-video cable then what they provide though as its pretty short. (TV within about 2ft of comp)

the 9800 non AIW comes with no cables so you will HAVE to buy an s-video cable.

me personally i would probably go with the AIW because of its versatility. it can be hooked up in so many ways using the supplied breakout box and cables. either s-video or RCA.

The only two ways to get a true HDTV singal from a PC is to use an ATI 8500/9x00 card with ATI's Component Video output adapter (sold at their site) or a video card with DVI (and a TV with DVI-in). I'd get the Pro because all you get with the AiW over the Pro is video capture (which it doesn't sound like you're going to be doing).

EDIT: Oops, I fogot you can also use DVI.
